Student Birthdays

Mustard Seed is a school that loves to celebrate! One of the ways we celebrate our students is by acknowledging their birthdays. Each child is honored with a book presented to the library in the student's name. These books are carefully chosen by the staff to represent the child's interests or a topic of study in his or her class. Parents are invited and encouraged to contribute to our birthday book fund.

Students are presented with a book during community worship on the day of or a day near to their birthday. Children with birthdays in July or August will receive a book on their half birthday.

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 may bring in easily managed treats such as cupcakes or cookies for their class. Parents should check with the teacher to know the amount needed and when it can be brought to school.

Invitations to birthday parties should be sent through the mail. This avoids the possibility of children having hurt feelings and feeling left out at school. It also maintains the energy and focus of the students on learning at school, rather than partying in the future. For these reasons students are not allowed to pass out invitations at school. Parents are encouraged to use the student directory and are welcome to call the school office to receive an accurate class list.
