Requirements

Solid knowledge of how admissions and recruitment affect all functions of a school environment; Excellent organizational and communication skills (strong writing skills, public speaking, interpersonal, and public relations skills); ability to self-initiate and execute with minimal supervision; ability to work a flexible schedule; fluency in Spanish highly desirable

Technology skills

Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ability to troubleshoot, knowledge of Filemaker Pro, Constant Contact & Adobe Creative Suite a plus, must have an ongoing commitment to learning emerging technologies.

Key Result Areas

Admissions
The Director of Admissions & Community Relations leads all phases of the admissions and recruitment effort at Mustard Seed School.  Duties include:

  • Creating and executing recruitment plan
  • Developing and maintaining relationships between MSS and local churches, preschools and childcare centers 
  • Coordinating student interviews, visitor mornings, open houses, and other admissions events
  • Establishing and maintaining contact with prospective families throughout the admissions cycle in a timely and professional manner 
  • Creating enrollment/ applicant reports and tracking enrollment history
  • Conducting tours & parent interviews and reviewing & evaluating applications
  • Overseeing the financial aid process and working with the financial aid committee
  • Working with Communications/Marketing Coordinator to develop and distribute ads & materials about Mustard Seed School

Outplacement
The Director of Admissions & Community Relations works with the Director of the Upper School, students and their families to help students secure high school admission.  Duties include:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local high school admissions directors
  • Overseeing and tracking the high school application process in collaboration with the Upper School Director
  • Coordinating high school informational events and meetings

Community Relations
The Director of Admissions & Community Relations serves as a key contact for prospective students, current families, and alumni.   He/she builds relationships with families on behalf of the school.  He/she plays a pivotal role in building community among families and alumni and in setting a welcoming, friendly tone for the office and school.  To that end, he/she is responsible for:

  • Assisting with the coordination of school celebrations and events for current families & alumni
  • Building & maintaining organizational evaluation capacity  
  • Assisting with development efforts as needed
  • Assisting with office coverage as needed
