You might think that the school building is quiet over the summer–and you’d be wrong! Administrative staff remain on site throughout the summer to plan and prepare for the fall.
If you’re a current parent, then you’ve already received the summer mailing and information on how to fill out forms for your student in the fall. That’s just one small piece of summer work that happens.
What’s happening around the building?
This is the summer of retiling! An anonymous donor has generously funded a retiling project in the hallways of the second, third, and fourth floors. Workers have been heating up the tiles to release the glue before removing them. It’s quite a messy process.
It’s not pretty now, but it will be! We can’t wait to show the “after” photos.
July Community Work Day
We had several people turn out for our July Community Work Day. We’re grateful to all of the volunteers for all of the cleaning, fixing, moving, and painting.
New Library System
The school’s implementing a new library system so that books and resources can be found much more easily. Several teachers have given some of their summer vacation time to help make this possible. And Ms. Brasser’s mom and sister (Suki and Martha) joined us from Michigan for several days to catalog books. Ms. Brasser was there too. She just didn’t make it into the photo!
speaking of the Brassers…
This is the ninth(!) summer that members of Ms. Brasser’s family have joined us from Michigan for summer work. Here’s a shot of her dad building new shelves with Mr. Cuervo for the Fountains classroom.
And her nephews (shown her with Mr. Choi and Mr. Cuervo) put in hours and hours of cleaning.
Thank you, Brassers, for your many years of service and dedication!
Technology updates, of course
Ms. Gautier, Mr. Choi, and Mr. Martino have been busy making sure that the laptops, servers, and all of the other technology at school is updated and ready for teachers and students.
