For Liam, the best part of wrestling with a math problem isn’t that it involves logic, although he loves the fact that math is logical. It’s that moment when it all comes together and the answer hits him. What’s the longest time that Liam has puzzled over a math problem? A month. It delighted him to solve this complex problem in multiple ways, not just the obvious way. Later he incorporated this work into his Math Exhibition.
Liam will continue enjoying math at Regis High School in New York City next year. His enthusiasm for learning runs the gamut: from literature to science. But getting specific, he’s hoping for some classes in physics and perhaps the history of World War II.
The kindness and dedication of his teachers are what he most appreciates about Mustard Seed School. “The school has a mission that the teachers believe in,” Liam says. “They want to be here. They choose to be here. If I could say ‘thank you’ in any way, I would write it in the sky.”
